The Feast of St.Lawrence
Here in Malta this feast is widely celebrated as the Saint is the patron of two villages. One being the ancient stronghold Birgu in Malta and our third smallest village San Lawrenz, population: 748, in Gozo. This feast welcomed The Grand Finale of the St.Lorenzo Fireworks Festival which plays to the tune of soundtracks from movies such as Gladiator, The Count of Monte Cristo and epic series Game of Thrones all of which were shot in Malta.

Yet despite the superb work done for this feast, I invite you to take a look at the skies this weekend as one of the most spectacular meteor showers hits the northern hemisphere. In Malta this is called the night of the ‘Tears of San Lawrenz’ in reference to the shooting stars on a mid-summer’s eve.
